September 1, 2018 (Toronto) — As previously announced by Axilogic, in August 2017 Axilogic and MPAC were invited by the Government of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana (CRG) to the capital city of Georgetown to meet with Ministry of Communities (MoC) officials to discuss the modernization of Guyana’s system of property classification and valuation.
Since that time, Axilogic has coordinated multiple missions to Guyana and held meetings with senior MoC officials. Axilogic and Guyana have agreed to the terms of “Phase One” of Guyana’s valuation modernization effort, which will commence with a pilot of the Valuation as a Service (VaaS) ecosystem in the community of New Amsterdam, followed by the completion, for the first time in over two decades, of a national valuation roll wherein every residential, commercial, special purpose, farm and other properties will be classified and valued. Concurrent with these activities, Axilogic will be consulting with the Council of the City of Georgetown, Guyana’s capital city with more than 355,000 inhabitants, on various valuation matters, including but not limited to taxpayer communications, arrears management and compliance.
The New Amsterdam pilot will kick-off in early October 2018 and the national valuation roll is expected to be completed by the end of 2019. In early 2020, Axilogic will commence Phase Two of the program which will including working with all of Guyana’s Local Democratic Organs (LDOs) to build local valuation and revenue mobilization capacity.
